Knowledge Is Power!
by Russell J. Schmidt

Deuteronomy 11:18-2118) “Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19) You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20) And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21) that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.

Now, if that doesn't sound like God's Word is important for you to follow, I don't know what is. First, we should lay them up in our hearts, then we should bind them as a sign on our hand, and they shall be frontlets between our eyes. We didn't even get past verse 18 yet. Do you get the picture? If you want to walk in a godly lifestyle, you first have to know it.

Most Christians neglect this part of their walk with Christ, yet it is the main exercise to truly knowing God and Jesus Christ intimately. God uses the analogy that we are Christ's bride, waiting for the bridegroom (Jesus) to marry. How many marriages do you know that worked out when the bride and bridegroom did not take time to get to know one another— I am sure not many.

And those that may work, it took time after marriage to develop that intimate loving relationship. You would have to say that the best marriages are those where the couple takes time in courtship to develop an intimate loving relationship. And, I am not talking about what our society considers intimate— when intimacy is brought up in a worldly manor, it is referring to sex. What we're talking about here is relationship.

The only way to develop a relationship that will be effective from the start in a marriage is to get to know one another. Learn each others habits, likes and dislikes. There is so much involved with developing intimacy, that it takes time to learn each other. It is the same when it comes to an intimate relationship with Jesus. Since Jesus is spirit there is no other way to get to know Him intimately, but through reading God's Word.

Joshua 1:8, reads, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success" As with Deuteronomy 11:18-21, this verse in Joshua talks of a reward or benefit from getting to know God intimately. This verse talks of Prosperity and success. Deuteronomy speaks of a blessed long life when getting to know the Book of the Law, which in New Testament terminology, would be the Bible.

When you get to know the Bible, you get to know God. But, you also become aware of the satanic side of the spirit world out there, and how Satan and his demons work behind the scenes, secretively— not wanting you to know he and his demonic force are the reason for your selfishness, idolatry, envy, and all the other works of the flesh that are described in Galatians 5:19-21 . They want you to believe that it is your right for you to be selfish and that it is justified to take advantage of others for your own benefit. After-all it is a dog-eat-dog world out there.

When you become intimate with God and know His will for your life, you open up the door of an abundance of blessings. Jesus said in John 8:31-32, " 31) If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32) And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." In order to abide in something (meaning to believe in something), you need to know what it is that you are abiding to. When you believe it and know it and in turn and live by it, you will be set free!

Proverbs 23:7, says, "For as he (a man) thinketh in his heart, so is he." If you think in a worldly way, which the Bible teaches leads to death, you cannot think in the spirit and you will be worldly in nature. But, if you think in the Spirit of God, so you will be like God in your nature. You will have a compassion toward people like you've never had before. With the Holy Spirit residing in you, you will gravitate naturally toward Jesus. Again, this is a result of an intimate relationship with Jesus, which can only come from godly knowledge.

When you are called by God and given knowledge and understanding of a godly way of life, you are expected to produce fruit. What do we mean by bearing fruit? It refers to a person who is called to the truth and persists at understanding that truth and in turn, turns others to the truth of God. We see an analogy of this by Jesus, in Mark 4:26-29, "26) And He said, 'The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, 27) and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28) For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29) But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.'

In verse 26, Jesus talks about a man, one who is called by God and accepts that calling and wants to produce fruit by bringing others into the truth as well. So, the man plants a seed in the ground— an analogy of telling someone about this truth. In time that seed within the person who was told of it, begins to germinate, sprout and grow. In other words, that person is now the fruit produced by the man who planted the seed. Jesus' analogy goes on to say how that seed planted went through the full cycle from germination to full, mature growth. It ends where the man who planted the seed is credited with reaping the harvest of the fruit.

As we see in a separate analogy by Jesus in reference to this same principle in the Parable of the Sower, in Matthew 13— Jesus talks about this seed being sowed in different types of ground. As the sower sowed, some seed fell along the wayside and the birds came and ate it up. Some seed fell along the stony path, Jesus tells us that this seed germinated and sprang up immediately, but because its root system was not developed enough, the sun scorched it and it withered away. Similar to the next seed which was thrown among the thorns— it also germinated, but was choked off by the thorny growth. Finally, some of the seed was thrown onto fertile soil which produced growth and a harvest of fruit.

Now, each one of these different types of earth that the seed fell upon, each represents a different person whom you tell about Jesus and salvation. The seed that fell along the wayside and where the birds came and ate it up, represents those who hear the truth, but immediately disregard it. The seed sown along the stony path represents those who hear the truth, get excited about this truth, but it doesn't last, the cares of this world scorch it and it withers away. The seed sown among the thorns is similar to the last, but it is other people around that person who are negative to the truth and unbelief sets into the person who received the knowledge and it bears no fruit in that person. But, then we have the seed sown on fertile soil, that is the person who accepts the truth, but the cares of this world and other people cannot influence them and make them loose the knowledge that they have received. Thus they bear fruit that is worthy of the Kingdom of God.

Again, all this has to do with knowledge and understanding that knowledge and putting it into practice into ones life. The Bible is full of passages regarding this principle— proverbs 4:20-22, reads, "20) My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21) Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22) For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh." Wow! How awesome is that! God's truth is life to those who find it and health to all his flesh! God's Word is true success.

Whether you are just starting out your Christian walk or you have accepted Jesus as your Savior for some time now, but just have not turned you life over to Him just yet, I have great news for you! The only thing separating you from a life of success, is that dusty book on the shelf, that's probably been there unnoticed for most of your life. If you would just pick it up, dust it off and open it up and read it, and not just read it, but set your mind to understanding it, God will respond to your faith. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

God is faithful, He wants you to seek Him. If you do seek Him, He will not let you down— that is a guarantee! It is the best guarantee you will ever receive. But, you must be persistent and not lose focus when the cares of this world or other unbelievers try to dissuade you. You must keep in mind that this is Satan working behind the scenes to keep you from accepting this truth. 1 Peter 5:8, tells us, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

Don't let him devour you— recognize the evil that is in the world, the temptations that flood your mind. These are all from our invisible foe and his demonic spirit helpers, those angelic beings who rebelled against God so long ago. They're angry now, because they know their fate is eternal damnation and they want to take as many of God's children with them as possible.

Don't let them take you— study your Bible, seek God in prayer for the questions that will ultimately come up while reading, book mark this site and read all the teachings here. Some of them are long, I know— but the wisdom, which is not my wisdom, but the wisdom of God He has so generously given me through revelation, this wisdom will change you life, I guarantee it! But, more important than my guarantee, it is also God's guarantee!

And there is no guarantee like God's guarantee. He is not going to go bankrupt, He is not going out of business. His guarantee is ironclad. If you accept His guarantee, you will in turn guarantee your salvation with eternal life!
